Real Talk: What Happens If It Rains on Your Photo Day?

Let’s face it—Florida weather can be wild. One minute it’s sunshine and palm trees, and the next, a surprise downpour. As an Orlando photographer working with families, high school seniors, kids, and vacationers, one of the most common questions I get is:

"What if it rains on the day of our photo session?"

Here’s the truth: it’s not something to stress over. I’ve got you covered.


☁️ How I Handle Rainy Forecasts

As a local photographer, I’m very familiar with how unpredictable Florida weather can be—especially in places like Orlando, Disney World, and Cocoa Beach.

Because of this, I typically do not cancel sessions in advance due to the forecast. Most rain predictions change by the hour, and I’ve had countless sessions where the storm was pushed back or cleared completely, giving us the most gorgeous skies and soft light.

In fact, some of my most stunning galleries have come from sessions that almost got canceled due to weather!


👋 Who Makes the Final Call? I Do.

Unless it was specifically discussed before booking—or the client is traveling from far away—I make the final decision on whether we proceed, adjust, or reschedule due to weather.

This helps ensure we're making the best call based on actual conditions, not just a guess. My goal is always to get you beautiful images in the best possible light, without unnecessary changes or stress.


🌦️ So, What Are Our Options If It Rains?

Option 1: Wait It Out

Florida showers often pass quickly. If your session is later in the day, we may just wait a bit. I’ll keep you updated in real time.

Option 2: Shift to an earlier or later time (if possible)

There are plenty of great spots around Orlando and the surrounding areas that offer shelter but still photograph beautifully.

Option 3: Reschedule (If It Truly Makes Sense)

If it’s clearly going to rain hard and consistently, or is unsafe to travel—and we have no great plan B—we’ll reschedule. I keep buffer dates available for this exact reason.
