Planning a family photoshoot is an exciting event that allows you to capture timeless memories with your loved ones. However, when Mother Nature throws a curveball and rainclouds loom overhead, it's common for families to consider canceling or rescheduling their session. While rain may seem like an inconvenience, there are numerous reasons why we should embrace the rain and proceed with your family session. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of not canceling your family session due to rain and how you can make the most of this unique opportunity.

  1. It is Florida. Just because it is raining 30 minutes before your session, does not mean your entire session will be a washout!
  2. If you book a 1 hour session, we will buffer time built in for the rain! I can almost always get you a full gallery of images in a fraction of the time! So do not stress if we arrive at the location and it is raining in the beginning.
  3. Natural Lighting Advantage: Rainy weather often brings softer and more diffused lighting, which can be flattering for photography. The clouds act as a natural filter, eliminating harsh shadows and reducing the need for artificial lighting equipment. The overcast sky provides even lighting, making it easier for me to capture stunning portraits without worrying about the sun's harsh glare or squinting eyes.
  4. Less crowds: The inclement weather almost always keeps the crowds away! This is such a huge bonus for busy beach locations!

Inclement weather may not be what you envisioned for your family photoshoot, but by embracing the weather and proceeding with your session, you open the door to unique and cherished memories. Rainy weather can provide a magical ambiance, add authenticity to your photographs, and create moments that stand out from the crowd. Remember, the imperfections and unpredictability of life often yield the most beautiful results. So, grab your umbrellas, put on your rain boots, and let the rain be a part of your family's story.

With all of that being said, it is important to note that I do not ever want any of my clients traveling in unsafe weather conditions. If you ever feel the drive is unsafe, I am happy to look for rebooking options! And of course, there are times where we will need to reschedule for weather but I ask we wait until a reasonable time prior to your session, before making any of those decisions.
